Boy and the Boot
Stevens Point, Wisconsin
The Stevens Point Boy and the Boot has been the victim of more stupid accidents and mindless violence than any of his brethren -- or maybe his history has just been better documented. The original statue has been patched and repaired so many times that little of it remains.
It's currently in the care of Stevens Point Fire Station No. 1, which may display it in a glass case at some future date.
Meanwhile, the Boy and the Boot currently serving as a public fountain on the Fire Station's front lawn is a copy, cast in 2009, carefully painted to match the original, but made of vandal-resistent cement. It was stolen in 2014, but quickly returned by the guilt-ridden thieves. The firefighters are considering installing a surveillance camera to thwart any further villainy.
