Hall of (Fake) Presidents
Washington, DC
Opened in December 2021 in a movie theater only a few minutes from the White House, the "Hall of Presidents" enshrines fictional Chief Executives created for Hollywood films such as President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) from Air Force One and President Thomas Beck (Morgan Freeman) from Deep Impact. Made-up Presidents often appear in sci-fi films, which are heavily represented in the "Hall" -- really just a corner of the theater lobby.
Framed portraits of eleven fake movie Presidents -- including Merkin Muffley (Peter Sellers) from Dr. Strangelove and Dwayne Elizondo "Mountain Dew" Herbert Camacho (Terry Crews) from Idiocracy -- flank a life-size bronze statue of President Thomas J. Whitmore (Bill Pullman) from Independence Day, which stands in front of a wall engraved with his inspirational speech to kick some space alien butts. "We will not go quietly into the night!"
Pullman himself was the guest of honor at the Hall's opening, and pulled off the sheet to reveal his bronze presidential likeness.
