Dennis Hopper's Grave
Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico
Film star Dennis Hopper died in May 2010, only two months after attending the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was buried, by choice, in an obscure little New Mexican desert cemetery.
At first all that marked the grave was a mound of dirt and rocks. Some time later a thick wooden cross was added as a headstone, hand-carved with a crucified Jesus -- although you'd never know it because the cross is constantly wrapped with dozens of sun-bleached biker bandanas left by fans of his best-known film, Easy Rider. Into the bandanas other fans have tucked flowers, feathers, Mardi Gras beads, and little American flags.
Among his many accomplishments, Dennis Hopper is the only Hollywood celebrity to design his own Muffler Man.
