Queen Bee Potato Head
Exeter, Rhode Island
In the late 1990s Rhode Island concocted a plan to get tourists to visit this tiniest of states. It was a "spud search," and the goal was to find all 47 Mr. Potato Head statues that had been scattered across the state from Bellingham to Warwick (Mr. Potato Head is made by Hasbro, headquartered in Pawtucket).
Each Potato Head was different: there was a Potato Head chef, an Uncle Sam, an elephant, a bishop, and this one -- a "Queen Bee" with lacy wings, big eyelashes, and a tiara.
It's unknown if anyone actually visited all 47 Potato Heads back then, and it would be impossible to do so now; less than 20 are known to still exist. This one, despite its delicate details, remains in good shape.
