Glowing Acorn
Fort Worth, Texas
A large (for an acorn) acorn sits on a downtown Fort Worth sidewalk. If you look closely, you'll see that its cap is made of hundreds of hands. They are the hands of community residents, cast by Clifton Crofford, who unveiled this odd artwork in March 2024. It took him five years to make. The hands and acorn, he said, represent the potential of this particular neighborhood.
Visitors can connect to the nut's Wi-Fi network and control its interior, which is lit with hundreds of color-shifting LEDs. This has led some to believe that the artwork is a dragon's egg. It's not. It's a big acorn.
