I was in Ypsilanti in June. The cow has been repainted black and white and the business is now closed. It was a meat shop for the past few years and has paintings on its side of various farm animals and where their different cuts of meat come from. There is also a nearby farm mural that depicts farming in the early days of Ypsilanti. The building is for sale; let's hope that whoever buys it will keep the cow on the roof.

When leaving the Detroit airport, the giant cow is a great stop for a cold beverage!

My dad and I visited the "cow store" every day. He bought his scratch-off tickets from there and won $5,000. I believe the cow brought us luck.
[shelley hintta, 04/03/2010]My Dad's best friend, Dan Campbell, owned the Carry Dairy for many years. As far as I know, it has always been a carry-out/convenience store. The cool thing was it was a drive-through carry-out. You would drive up, someone would come to the car, take your order, go in the store and bring it out to you. Not sure if they do this anymore. A lot of great memories buying milk from the Carry Dairy.
[Ypsi Boy, 01/20/2010]I grew up in Ypsi from 1960 to 1978. The building used to be the Milk Depot, and that is why they had the cow.
