Giant cow.

Big Milker in Ypsi

When leaving the Detroit airport, the giant cow is a great stop for a cold beverage!

Lucky cow.

Big Cow

My dad and I visited the "cow store" every day. He bought his scratch-off tickets from there and won $5,000. I believe the cow brought us luck.

Big Milker In Ypsi

My Dad's best friend, Dan Campbell, owned the Carry Dairy for many years. As far as I know, it has always been a carry-out/convenience store. The cool thing was it was a drive-through carry-out. You would drive up, someone would come to the car, take your order, go in the store and bring it out to you. Not sure if they do this anymore. A lot of great memories buying milk from the Carry Dairy.

"come to the car, take your order, go in the store and bring it out to you"... and perhaps wipe your milky upper lip with a rag? Those were the days of curbside service...

Big Milker in Ypsi

I grew up in Ypsi from 1960 to 1978. The building used to be the Milk Depot, and that is why they had the cow.

The Big Cow

As per my father Herbert Mida, my grandfather Albert Mida, delivered this bovine in a trailer to its destination in the 1950's I believe. I can remember seeing it as a kid in the 60's. He worked for Ford Motor Company and also sold real estate in the Belleville area. Not sure why or how he got involved in the delivery? I'll investigate further.
