Blue Whale

The Blue Whale is a must-see for any Route 66 buff. I can't imagine that anyone ever swam in the pond, but I guess times were different. There are some nice picnic tables and some kids were fishing when we stopped by in August.

Definitely worth it. The tamale cart/house next to the Blue Whale is delicious.

Our GPS couldn't find the posted address, but the Whale is there and worth the trip. If you're lucky the curator (and son of the builder), Blaine Davis, will be there to share the story of his parents, show you around the park behind the locked gates, and take your picture while you're inside the whale. The park is also a nice shady spot for a picnic.

This is a sweet gift any lady would be lucky to receive. Wouldn't ever suggest swimming, but it's always a great photo.

Great news about The Blue Whale! Catoosa Arts & Tourism is now working on bringing "Blue" back to life. Part of the Snack Shack has been opened up to sell souvenirs on the weekends (until Oct. 17th).

We are also having the first Blue Whale Christmas this year, where Blue will be lit up and Santa will be there to take pics with the kids. There are a lot of big plans for his future.
