Brought my 4 year old for her first banana split today. She was over the moon. Everyone here was so nice. Outdoor barrel - fun.
[Thelma Pickles, 05/31/2021]Regardless of previous tips, Barrel Of Fun is alive and well, and open for 2020! Not only do they have the best ice cream in town, their hamburgers and bbq are legendary. Bring cash.... no charge cards accepted.
[Lyn Palmer, 05/16/2020]I read that Barrel of Fun Ice Cream is closed. I called and the number's been disconnected. Not sure what that means, but putting two-and-two-together, I think I'll be getting ice cream elsewhere. Bummer.
[Lucy Pfeffa, 05/30/2012]Bad time for it to close; prime ice-cream-consumption season is just now arriving. At least the barrel is still there....
This ice cream shop has been around in Louisville since the early 1990's at least. I've been going to it for about 10 years now. Not sure how old the giant barrel they use is but it could date back to 1930's or '50's. They offer hard and soft serve ice cream, as well as banana splits, shakes, third pound KY black angus hamburgers, barbeque and hot dogs/chili dogs.
[Sean Meredith, 08/20/2010]Ice cream shop shaped like a barrel. Shop is painted red and white - you can't miss it. Seasonal hours.
