Weightlifting Hall of Fame

The statue of Hoffman does rotate now. We just passed it and it's spinning right 'round, baby, right 'round.

All fans of the band Dead or Alive (circa 1985) understand your choice of words.

York Barbell Man

The York Barbell Man is rotating fully again. Cleaned up, looks like new. He's also illuminated with floodlights at night.

York Barbells and Weightlifting Hall of Fame

Along Route 30 is the York Barbell Company. High on a pole in front of the building is a very large man on one knee holding up a large set of barbells. I believe that the man rotates and can be seen for quite a distance. It has been there for years.

[C. Carey, 05/17/2005]

The building is the home of the US Weightlifting Hall of Fame, the legacy of former Olympic athlete Bob Hoffman, "Father of World Weightlifting," who died in 1985.
