I went to see this in May 2014. The security guard at the entrance to the plant was not very friendly when I asked about getting closer to it for a picture. He told me no one is allowed to photograph it. I told him that maybe that was true if I was on their property, but no one can stop me from photographing it from the road.
I headed west about quarter-mile on Harbison Road and turned down Transport Court. It dead-ends at a truck terminal, and you can walk along their fence and get a better view of the cup. Don't enter the truck terminal property. Because of insurance reasons they don't want anyone inside the fence, but they were friendly about it and had no problem with me staying outside the fence to get a better photo.

Dixie Cup Water Tower in Lexington Kentucky.
[Bill Bansemer, 07/07/2009]Dixie Cup Corporation located in Lexington in 1958. At that time, a water tower was constructed in the shape of a cute little Dixie Cup. Since that time, the company has changed and is currently the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. When they took over the plant, there were plans to remove the water tower. The city refused on the basis that the airport uses the Dixie Cup as a point of reference.
