We just stopped in Hastings, Nebraska to check out the Birthplace of Kool Aid. Not much else was going on in that town until we met a young local. She took us out to an old bomb depot. As she put it, it was one Hitler's Top Five military targets to hit if he ever invaded. We saw no signs for the bomb depot or anything. It's just off of 2nd street in the downtown. From I-80, you should be able to see a bunch of hills -- these are not hills. Rather, bomb shelters.
Also, about 15 minutes away is Spring Ranch -- a ghost town that is just wasting away. She took us out there and told the legends of the area. Pretty creepy place if you are willing to go about half an hour off of the highway.

Not really visible from I-80, but definitely visible along the south side of US 6.
