The original signs were separate hand-painted wood slats stacked and attached to two wooden posts. It was stolen almost yearly by the students of Bates College in Lewiston as a class prank. It was replaced each year until it was built with a more substantial, well-anchored metal post to discourage the yearly prank.

A world traveling sign located in Maine!

World Traveler sign with towns such as Berlin and Poland, which are in Maine. Still there (we visited on July 7, 2012), with added features such as Sasquatch and raccoon statues, and other items. The statues are on private property, which is posted, but people are invited to enjoy it, just not go on the property.
