Brookshire, Texas: Tywheelosaurus Rex

The dinosaur, made out of steel car wheels, is an advertisement for a now long-gone roadside zoo. If you go down the road that parallels the Brazos River next to the Tywheelosaurus Rex, on the left you will see the overgrown cages of a zoo and small amusement park that included tigers and many other exotic animals (Looks like their living conditions weren't very good).

Down at the end of the road is a home (fenced private property) where the owner bought up all the amusements including a small tram train. You may be able to see some of them from the road.

It is on top of a trailer, on an abandoned lot. Looking a bit worn, but neat to see from the highway.

The Tywheelosaurus is still there, but it is easy to miss. One caveat with the directions as posted: If you are driving westbound on I-10 from Houston, then take the Peach Ridge exit, stay on the feeder and follow the directions posted. But if you are driving eastbound towards Houston and take the Peach Ridge exit, you'll pass the sculpture. The frontage road is cut off by the river, so if you're coming eastbound on I-10, then unfortunately the only way to get to the sculpture is to take the Peach Ridge exit, take a left on the first stop sign, go under the freeway and go under the freeway again, the Tywheelosaurus is a few hundred feet before the eastbound exit ramp.

Red dinosaur made from old auto wheels is still there, but it can be easy to miss.

Along Interstate-10 between Sealy and Brookshire, Texas stands a full sized replica of the now extinct Tywheelosaurus Rex. Archaeologists have found few actual remains of this once mighty creature of the NASCARassic era, known for its skeletal structure made entirely of prehistoric auto wheels.
