When I first was introduced to Fat Smitty's I had just been stationed up here in the Pacific Northwest. I was driving with fellow service members up to Port Angeles. The atmosphere was so friendly to us on active duty that for a moment I forgot I was far away from family and felt right at home.
After eight years in the Navy I was honorably discharged and I have family of my own now in the Pacific Northwest. Whenever I'm in the area, my son and I enjoy a burger and I reminisce and share with him the stories about my time in the Navy and how much Fat Smitty's was so much a part of it. In fact, there is a Navy hat that I gave to them; I point it out to my son every time we go there.

This burger joint has over $10,000 in currency hung on walls and ceilings, as well as great chainsaw-carved offbeat characters. The food is so-so.

Loads of photo ops at this place. I just love giant things. Quirky, colorful (and the burgers are good, too), but remember to bring cash, as that is all they accept.
The inside was a surprise. Over the years patrons have tacked dollar bills to the ceiling -- many, many bills. They do not have postcards for sale, believe it or not, but I rectified that by sending them a batch from the pictures I took when I was there. A fun place to stop after you've visited Bandy's Troll Haven.

While I haven't been since 2005, I have been to Fat Smitty's Restaurant about five times since I was a small child (in the 80s). The burgers have always been good and the statues out front always make for a fun photo!
Inside, the number of dollar bills with funny, sarcastic, sweet and boring things written on them keep a person more than entertained. I know I have several bills hanging up and plan to go back and add another soon!

In the small town of Discovery Bay. At three locations down from each other are a wood-carved ice cream cone, a hot dog man with pterodactyl and logger, and a crazy store.
