Pioneer Mom with Scary Child

It is actually visible from Rt 61 shortly after you come off the exit. I found it very disturbing. So much so that we dared not leave without dropping some coins into the neck of the doll. This may be the oddest roadside attraction I've seen so far.

While visiting this statue, we met a man who regularly rents a room at Granny's. He told us that for good luck, many people put coins in the neck of the headless doll.

Granny's Motel is now closed. The property is for sale. No idea on what is going to happen to the horrid statue. I'm a local so I have to drive past it everyday.

We stayed at Granny's Motel while on a trip to Centralia. The restaurant was closed and did not look like it would be open for business any time soon. The child is hilarious! We nicknamed them Grannie and Trannie!

This unusual statue has been repainted recently in even brighter colors. It's hard to miss from the highway!

Sadly the child's toy is missing its head and hand - as if the child wasn't scary enough!

Definitely a funny landmark to catch as you head through town.
