Pterodactyl on the Cliffs - Gone

The pterodactyl on bird rock was cleared off sometime in May of 2006, and replaced with a stained glass peace sign. In January of 2008, the peace sign vanished. It's rumored to have been stolen, destroyed, or simply washed off the rock in a storm. Bird rock now stands bare.

Pterodactyl on the Cliffs

A pterodactyl now nests off Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach, San Diego. Recently a sculpture of a green pterodactyl mysteriously appeared on top of Ross Rock, just offshore of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. The winged dinosaur is about 10 feet high with a wingspan of about 15 feet. It appears to be made of nylon, plastic pipes and papier mache. The cliffs have hosted other strange creatues, including a Tiki head, a flamingo, and a toilet. A neighbor spotted six to eight high school-age men erecting the pterodactyl at about 4 am one morning.
