The wild chickens at Popeye's. Ironic.
[Caressa, 02/24/2011]The town of Oviedo in central Florida has a fairly large (30+) breeding populaton of wild chickens nesting and generally milling about in the downtown area. The local merchants feed them, and some sell t-shirts celebrating the chickens. ("Crazy about chickens" and "Poultry in Motion" are two local favorites.) The chickens have been here for approximately 30 years, and are often seen crossing the main roads in downtown Oviedo, and, I swear this is true, loitering in the drive-thru of the nearby fast food fried chicken restaurant.
