[11/02/2003] Complete News StoryVisitors to Shartlesville, PA and Roadside America can go south on Rt. 61 into Reading for a glimpse of an orange Pagoda that sits atop Mt. Penn, overlooking the city. It seems in the early 1900s the mountain was mined, making it an eyesore. To promote peace among the town, a pagoda was erected by the landowner. Visitors can go into the pagoda on its many levels that overlook the city of Reading and nearby towns. There is a gift shop on the first level and a restaurant had been planned.
