A roughly-strawberry-shaped building is a self-proclaimed fruit wonder of the highway. Built in 2003 by the business's owner, Lee Berry.

There are giant plywood peach and strawberry cutouts for photo ops. Definitely a fun stop!

The new location is thriving and the ice cream is great. In addition to the strawberry building, which houses the ice cream stand, there are numerous boulders painted to resemble blocky, angular fruit all around it.
[Kitsa, 05/26/2012]Mr Berry just moved his strawberry 2 miles north up the road from Rockingham. It is now right off of Hwy 220 (Exit 8 - Ellerbe Exit) on Cargo Road...Still visible from Hwy 220.

The giant strawberry building is part of a farmer's market. It is on interstate 220, about 2 miles south of the town of Ellerbe.

Lee Berry, a strawberry farmer, built the "berry" in 2003. It's 20 feet tall, 80 feet around, and weighs 8 tons. Berry says it's the World's Largest Strawberry, and reportedly called a rival World's Largest Strawberry town in Iowa to stake his claim. He's also reportedly suing North Carolina for $1 million for making him move his big berry in 2012.
