This is now located about 15 miles west on 198. East of Ave 32B. There are other wood carvings, too.
[Tammy Swafford, 06/16/2017]The stump had been moved to the front of West Coast Sand and Gravel located at 8347 Avenue 280, Visalia, CA 93277. Visible from highway where 198 and 99 intersect.

[Dylan, 11/06/2011]The Large Head of John Muir has been moved to the SW corner of 198 & 99. Almost inaccessible at this time, though visible. Must be approached via 198 eastbound and take exit before 99 - ride access road. Located next to the Wood Industries Company.

Naturalist John Muir is one of the more interesting targets in 2020's historical reckonings. Though for years his "Father of the National Parks" legacy had mostly outweighed his shortcomings, in 2020 the Sierra Club condemned the early racist views of their founder. TBD whether Muir parks are renamed and statues removed.
