Twin Arrows, Arizona: Twin Arrows Trading Post - Ruins
Two giant arrows seem lodged in the ground, falling just short of what remains of Route 66. Restored in 2009; by 2022 only one arrow remained standing.

We continued driving east to go around the concrete barrier and get closer. However, it's completely fenced off now. So, to get closer you have to hop over the concrete barrier, which you shouldn't because that would be trespassing. *wink*

This place is in pretty good shape considering how long it's been abandoned. Totally worth the trip -- it's deserted and very cool. It was better than I had hoped!
You can only get to it from the westbound side of the highway off the Twin Arrows exit. Then you have to pass it, turn around and park on the other side of the road. There's no parking at the site.
[McDiann, 04/10/2014]I've been to Twin Arrows several times; I love the place. It's not possible to park in front of it but you can park just a few feet away on the right side and walk back. I went inside the building last year. It's all devastated, unfortunately, and the ceiling is falling down. Too bad, because the place really feels like the old times and the building has a very interesting shape. I'm glad to hear that it might be restored.
[Pat, 09/14/2013]Just went by Twin Arrows. The concrete barriers are still there, and the old trading post building is dilapidated, but the arrows are looking pretty good.

Fun stop. Too bad someone couldn't come in and reopen it.
