Literally a roadside attraction. The tree sits in the middle of the interstate, so you'll exit to your left. There is a large granite rock that's simple to climb up on to get a better view. Sure enough, it really seems to be growing out of the rock!

Love this story of fascination and perseverance. I can picture the locomotive firemen 'giving the tree a drink'. This, quite possibly, is one of the earliest examples of tree hugging. How can you NOT stop here.
[Mark Thomas, 01/18/2014]The granite rocks where the tree has taken root are encircled by a belt of steel cable to prevent the tree roots or other forces from spreading them apart, which could kill the tree.

Keep an eye out for the sign on left side of the freeway that says "Point of Interest."
