Erected in 1899 to mark the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator. Just down the road is a gift shop with even better 45th Parallel markers than the real marker.

It's located about 1 mile north of the Perry post office on the left side of the road if coming from the post office.

The small monument appears to have been cleaned up and is now very easily read. The small rest area in which it stands is clean with picnic tables. The actual monument is accompanied by a printed sign that explains the significance and the story behind the marker. Thankfully they placed the two far enough apart as to not interfere with photo opportunities.
