Blackwells Corner is actually at the intersection of Hwy 33 and Hwy 46. The old store was torn down 6/18/08 to make room for the new store, diner, and I hope soon-to-be gas station. The big billboard type bust of James Dean still stands, but the World's Largest Parking Lot sign was down.
The James Dean monument and Jack Ranch Cafe actually sit in Cholame, about 25 miles west of Blackwells Corner, just west of Hwy 41.
[The Lone Ranger, 07/10/2008]Blackwell Corner is the last place James Dean stopped for gas. It's near the corner of highway 41 and highway 46, by happy jacks cafe, which is only about 25 miles up the road from the location of James Dean's crash with Mr. Turnipseed on Sept 30, 1955. If you had ever been there, you would realize why it is called the Biggest Parking Lot in the World.
