Giant Buffalo Bill Statue

This statue was originally near Wall, where it was known as "General Custer," but it was taken down at some point. We saw it last fall in Wasta and it looks like it is in really good condition. Right off of Interstate 90.

[Teresa Blakeney, 02/27/2022]

Wasta is known for its annual Buffalo Bill Rodeo, which is why this 1967 statue was restored and moved here.

[Travis Fulk, 01/24/2006]

Amended to Buffalo Bill Cody from an earlier ID as General George Custer. General Custer is usually in uniform -- and surrounded.

August 2008: The land formerly occupied by Cody's Tavern and Grill has been leveled, and the Giant Buffalo Bill Statue is gone. It was reportedly purchased and trucked to a ranch in Renner, only three miles north of here. The statue was reported lying prone on the property in late 2007.
