The Original Diner State, home to the diner that sued Disney and won and "the first diner invited to be accepted on the National Register for Historic Places." Modern Diner has been a Rhode Island institution for years. After finding out that Disney used its image, they sued and won, building an addition onto the original diner. It is still in operation. Not to be confused with the Haven Brother's mobile diner outside of Providence City Hall, another RI institution.
Although many of Rhode Island's classic diners are being torn down or removed, it has been rumored that a building in Providence's Jewelry District was to house a diner museum. On the menu of the Modern Diner the Diners' history is explained. Diners originated in Providence, RI.
