Gulf Hill Ice Cream Bucket
As a 52-year old native of the area, my own observation of its history: My first memory is when the bucket was beside the old Gulf Hill Dairy. They had a glass front on the milking building, and you could watch the cows getting milked. They then moved it across the street, on the grounds of a restaurant the dairy built and opened. The restaurant eventually closed, and after a long vacancy a museum moved in. The museum passed the main building on to another organization, and the bucket was moved down the hill to the Apponogansett town beach.

Right near South Dartmouth's Big Milk Can, you can see the the Ice Cream Bucket in a public park. It has been around since at least the 1940s and was originally used as the Gulf Hill Dairy ice cream stand.
When it closed, local residents fought to save it. The building it had been at was being used by the Children's Museum. When the museum closed, it moved to the local park, where it has been restored.
