In the eighties, a joke race for mayor began between a Houstonian and a local goat named Clay Henry. Though the Houstonian won the first election, the goat took the second in a landslide. Goat mayor Clay Henry gave way to goat mayor Clay Henry II. All you have to do is put an open bottle in Clay's mouth, he knows how to chug it for himself. Clay Henry Sr. was known to drink as many as 35-40 beers a day. He was killed by his son and then-current goat mayor Clay Henry III.
[John Ruffalo, 05/24/2011]I've been visiting Lajitas and Clay Henry off and on since 1999. Went there Sunday, November 15th and Clay Henry was gone. His pen where he had been kept was gone. Couldn't tell it had even been there. I guess he didn't fit with the latest owner of the Resort's image they were trying to project. What a shame. Another loss of a great Texan.
[Dave Roberts, 11/20/2009]Now there's really no reason to visit Lajitas!
