Gibsland, Louisiana: Bonnie and Clyde Death Site

Where America's favorite outlaw lovebirds were riddled with dozens of bullets by hidden lawmen. The old stone marker was also riddled, so a new, more vandal-proof marker was added in 2014 that shifted emphasis to the posse over the lawbreakers. It was stolen in 2023.

Well, this marker got knocked over, driven over, and repainted battleship gray. Make sure to visit the museum!

During our road trip we thought it would be fun to see this monument. When you exit I-20 and head south, you pass thru a very small town where Bonnie and Clyde ate their last meal (which is now the museum). You will then make a right on a small street and head west a few miles. It seems like forever. The monument sits on the north side of the street and you can drive right up to it. If you are into gangster/mob Americana then it's well worth it. While driving on the small street I thought to myself "What are we doing this for?" But after you get there, and take a picture or two, you now have a great conversation topic that most people are interested in because of the history and story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie & Clyde Monument

This monument, in a very secluded area quite distant from any towns, identifies where the two famous outlaws were shot and in killed in an ambush by law officers, after a well-publicized career of mayhem and murder.

This spot is just as rural as it was 80 years ago, during its brief bloodbath of fame.

Keep driving about a mile and a half further than the map tells you to. The plaque will be on the right when heading south. Kinda cool to drive these back legendary roads!

We've adjusted the map point further south on Hwy 54.
