Continental Divide Marker

Sign is no longer there. Not the true divide.

[Jhill, 10/14/2020]

The giant surveyor's tripod and buffalo are still there, but no signs explain their purpose, and the property is overgrown. Maybe this place was shut down by the Continental Divide police.

Continental Divide Marker

The sign is gone, so without using the RA app I wouldn't have even known what this was for. Info in the cabin is very sparse.

Not divided on their opinion of this attraction.

Continental Divide Marker

Not worth the trip. No cool markers or signage, just a small bit of historical information regarding the continental divide.

[Robin, 08/12/2016]

Yeah, how difficult would it be to embed a straight line in the ground and mark it "Continental Divide," right? That said, we like the for-map-nerds oversized surveyor's transit-level and tripod, and the Information Center Continental Divide sign out front.

Buffalo statue.

Continental Divide

In addition to the big surveyor's marker at the site, there's a new fiberglass buffalo, a log cabin, and a teepee. Duck into the teepee to find a fire circle or walk through the log cabin to learn about the Divide's history and origins.

Continental Divide Monument.

Continental Divide Marker

By the Big Chief Restaurant/C-Store there is a marker for the Continental Divide- sort of a telescope/indian arrowhead-looking contraption...

[Holly Diestler, 05/08/2006]

It's actually an oversized surveyor's transit-level and tripod, with a plumb bob. Well done.
