My husband and I just spent a fun day in Tombstone, AZ. It is cheesy, touristy, and so much fun. Walk the board sidewalks of Allen St. with their original buildings. All the buildings are shops and restaurants now, but the architecture is authentic. There are characters dressed in period costume wandering up and down the street and sidewalks, glad to tell you where things are. And they love a photo op with you. I got my picture taken with Doc Holiday. I absolutely loved him, because he never broke character.
As for Boot Hill, my advice is to see it in the morning if you want to take pictures, because all the tombstones face east and if you wait til afternoon, the sun is in your eyes. The tour is free, but you can buy a brochure for a $3 donation that will tell you where each person's grave is.
We ate at Big Nose Kate's and really enjoyed it. It's like an old time saloon, with very good food and atmosphere and all-day live entertainment. Don't forget sunscreen.
