Gleason Museum - Gone

Just wanted to let you know that I found an interesting museum in the sleepy east Texas town of Port Neches.

It's called the Gleason Museum (named after the founder) and I think it may have recently opened. Anyway, he's got quite a collection of things dug up from the swamps and surrounding beaches including a mammoth vertebrae with an arrowhead lodged in it. He's also got all sorts of Civil War era weapons and letters. And most interestingly, is his collection of illegal prisoner bounty -- the stuff confiscated from federal prisoners. Everything from "homemade" tattoo machines to dice made from infirmary medications!

This place seems to have vanished -- too bad, we wanted to see those tattoo machines.
