The Legend of Sirena

I didn't remember if I ever saw the mermaid in Salado Creek. She has since moved to a new location, high and dry, away from the creek, on the south side of the Main Street bridge in Pace Park.

[Christy LaSalle, 04/19/2017]

The mermaid was moved after several near-calamitous washouts when the creek would flood.

Sirena is high and dry. She got washed away so often from the creek they moved her to a safer (but not nearly as nice) location.

It's down in a gorgeous creek, perfect for a day trip with lunch, and the town is perfect for walking around and day shopping.

Indian Mermaid Statue - Gone

Still gone - August 2011. Spoke with a shop owner that said the statue was lost down the creek during a flood. It was later found and is being repaired. ETA of return is not known.
