The bronze mermaid -- and her catfish husband -- sat in Salado Creek for 30 years. In 2016, after several damaging floods, she was moved to higher, less waterlogged location.

What happened to Sirena??! The trees around her spring are all cut down, and she is missing! We visited March 14 2011, intending to have a short peaceful visit to her spring. GONE. Spring is there, the commemoration plates and the viewing bench are still there, but she is gone, and all the lovely trees have been cut down.

Sirena was damaged in a flash flood in September 2010 (That's what took out the trees as well). She's currently in the mermaid shop for repairs. Her sculptor, Troy Kelley, is reattaching a finger that was snapped off, and trying to smooth out some unattractive gravel pits.
