Fabulous war museum with actual possessions of Adolf Hitler, including his Berlin bunker oval mirror and a cape that he wore.

Had to visit to see Hitler's teapot and spent a good hour perusing the museum. A very friendly curator showed me some items not on display but worthy of a photo, such as Hitler's linen set (to go with his shiny teapot). Noted the "A.H" embroidery, apparently one of his own designs. Plus had the enjoyment of meeting one of the actual veterans from the campaign. While taken with levity, one shouldn't forget the horrors of the dictator. Well worth the detour off Route 66 if military history is your bag.

This isn't your typical Planes, Trains, and Automobiles museum; it is Jets, Guns, and Mechanized Vehicles! The museum contains items from the Civil War to present day. Most of the items are from WWII. Unusual items include Hitler's Silver Tea Service from his Eagle's Nest retreat, a WWII Mickey Mouse gas mask for kids, a captured North Korean machine gun that you can hold (for security it is tethered by a chain to its stand) and over 200 of Bill Mauldin's original World War II cartoons. Outside are jets, helicopters, trucks, tanks, cannons, jeeps, and a picnic area.
[Cory Lenger, 06/05/2006]The collection includes Hitler's bedroom mirror, from his command bunker in Berlin.
