Want to see the Virgin Mary in the Stump? Like many things in this arena, you'll just have to trust your faith. As reported, the original miraculous image was vandalized away years ago -- but the semi-sketchy viewing platform remains. You can climb the steps (although someone mistakenly decorated it with an image of Jesus, not Mary), and examine the general miraculous area. If you squint just right and wish hard enough I think you can still see a face in the tree.
I recommend a tour of all the local mystical and religious sites, especially Gilgal Gardens, Temple Square, and the Gravity Hill.
[spodaddyo, 02/12/2022]I don't see it. If there was something there resembling Mary, its now just a defaced knot in a tree.

The image of the Virgin was originally spotted in 1997 after a large tree limb was removed. In 2002 the site was vandalized and the image of Mary was cut out of the tree. The shrine still remains as of May 2017, and is still frequently visited.

It's gone. Not worth a stop.
[Brian Nern, 11/22/2015]The courtesy miracle staircase was still visible in July 2015, the Virgin Mary art on its side removed, so perhaps this miracle has been wound down....
The Virgin in a stump, more of the sawed off space where a branch was, was vandalized sometime about a year and a half or so ago. I never heard of them ever charging anyone with the vandalism. The candles, stairway, and written prayers continue, even though the robed shape has been chopped out. It's in a tiny vest pocket park with children's play area, lots of trees, very near the Job Service offices and a major thrift store. It has an odd feel to it, being a focus of so much hope and belief. I live nearby and stop occasionally.
