The World's Largest Frying Pan has a new home. For years the Goliath-size showpiece of the Delmarva Chicken Festival was displayed inside the Delaware History Museum in Wilmington. But when that museum closed in 2014 for long-term renovations, it was decided that "long-term" would be too long to keep Delaware's symbolic skillet from the public.
So on March 25, 2015, the pan was moved, permanently, to the Nutter D. Marvel Carriage Museum in Georgetown, the town where the chicken festival was hatched in 1948.
The World's Largest Frying Pan cooked an estimated 100 tons of chicken before it was retired in 1987.
[RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 03/26/2015]The frying pan is in the museum part of the Historical Society Of Delaware. There is a $6 per person charge to tour the museum and see the frying pan. We opted not to see it as there are other large frying pans in the US.
