The monocled, top-hatted, human-sized goober has occupied several spots along the Boardwalk, and stayed one step ahead of vandals and collapsing buildings. He sat on a bench, encouraging others to join him.

Mr. Peanut Statue
Atlantic City's Mr. Peanut Statue was only available for a short time after it appeared in July. He was vandalized, his bronze composite right hand broken in half. Luckily, before the attack I snapped a shot of my niece and nephew posing next to him.

That extended pinky was too much for the criminal mind to tolerate! Mr. Peanut was taken away to Cherry Hill, NJ for repairs in mid-August 2006, and a rethinking of his structural fitness when pitted against boardwalk denizens. Mr. Peanut's armored shell is made of a tough mixture of steel and resin; the new hand will be all steel, impervious to all but the most determined and demented vandals.
