Clint Eastwood found himself holding the short end when two Northcoast retirees challenged the Dirty Harry star to a size contest based on Eastwood's claim of owning the largest Blue Gum Eucalyptus in the nation. It didn't make his day when Eastwood learned that his tree in Carmel, Calif. is a good 10 feet smaller in circumference than the fence-eating monster that Loren Salladay and Bob Bush discovered in Petrolia, Calif. The Petrolia tree measures nearly 49 feet around, and is 141 feet high. Spread: 126 feet.
