- US 101/North Coast Hwy to Otter Rock, which is halfway between Depoe Bay and Newport. Look for signs for Otter Rock and Devil's Punch Bowl State Park. Once in Otter Rock, drive to 1st St., then follow east to the end.

Because the churning waves pick up and deposit many agates and shells in Devil's Punchbowl, I find the best time to visit is at just before low tide the lower, the better. Never turn your back on the ocean, know tide times, and retreat before the tide begins to change.

[Debra, 10/01/2018]Okay to see, but make sure seen during high tide. Surfers are fun to watch from up above -- bring binoculars. Climbing down to the beach is easy. Climbing back up will be a workout.

For the best views I recommend arriving at low tide, so you can hike down to the beach. Venture cautiously, and don't stick around too long.

The Devil's Punchbowl is a cave that caved in. We missed high tide, that's the real time to visit, because the swirling water turns into a spout several hundred feet off the cave floor.
