Big Green Dragon

We've passed by this dragon numerous times and didn't realize we could get to see him up close! We parked at the Dollar General, off exit 134, and went around to the back of the building to get a good look. He's had a new paint job, and there was a little path cleared to walk up to him, so someone is taking care of him.

A very cool concrete-mache dragon sculpture looks like it's going to roast northbound traffic. Our clan's family tradition is to stop and take a pic there. It still roars over Caryville behind the Dollar General, although it's pretty overgrown. In March-April, it was cleaned, and its ear was reattached.

The dragon is still there! There's been some graffiti, but it's still pretty cool.

Not sure how much longer it will last. The dragon has already lost an ear.

The dragon still has scorch marks from the fire that burned down the adjacent fireworks store in 2011.

You can see this dragon from the highway and get a decent picture. If you want to be up close, take exit 134 and turn right. The dragon is behind a Dollar General at 306 John McGhee Blvd.
