A rock on a plaque marks the spot where American revolutionaries delivered their parting shot at the British.

- Drive west out of town on Hwy 29/State St., then turn right onto Johnson Ave. The monument is a little less than a mile north, on the right, just south of O'Neil Ave.

Yorktown was the last major battle of the Revolution. Johnstown was the last battle. Six days after the war ended at Yorktown, a local militia beat back a band of British raiders. A dozen were killed on both sides. Marking the spot is a big rock with a plaque.
