The Demented But Lovable Dog Statue was decorated for Christmas.
[Sandra S-buckshot, 12/28/2016]The Demented But Lovable Dog Statue is back. The crazy-looking canine had vanished from his spot on Highway 12 for about a year so that its master, local junk artist Patrick Amiot, could give its junk some TLC. The makeover is now complete, and the Dog was returned to the Sonoma Humane Society on Nov. 4. Amiot plans to give the Society "official adoption papers" for the Dog, and install lighting so that its eyes glow at night.

Patrick Amiot's happy dog sculpture is made of a variety of metal junk and equipment cast-offs. Like many of the artist's works, the pooch has one eye protruding more than the other; its nose is a black washtub. The Demented But Lovable Dog stands near the highway and sign for the Sonoma County Humane Society. At the building entrance stands another, smaller Amiot cartoon dog statue.
Amiot has at least 250 of his zany sculptures in the Sebastopol area, but the dog is the largest we've seen.

You can see the dog from the highway in front of the shelter 24 hours a day. It's made from an old horse trailer and a lot of imagination and scrap aluminum.
