The Dick Tracy mural has been painted over with white paint. No trace of it remains.
[Mike Sackmary, 05/25/2025]A wall has been painted with a Dick Tracy cartoon. It's on the corner of 6th and Harrison, but not visible from Harrison Street unless you are west of 6th Street.
[Daniel Fuqua, 07/07/2018]The mural pays tribute to Chester Gould, who created the Dick Tracy comic strip and was born in Pawnee.
Dick Tracy's creator [Chester Gould] was born and raised in Pawnee, Ok. The Pawnee County Historical Museum and Dick Tracy Headquarters celebrate Dick Tracy's birthday on the first Saturday of October each year. All of the area law enforcement bring their cars and there is a parade at 12:00 with all the vehicles with their lights and sirens going -- a little loud, but the kids love it.
There are activities on the courthouse square, also geared to law enforcement and children. The Museum, which is on the west side of the square, serves birthday cake and punch. There is an art show featuring Dick Tracy and also Dick Tracy and friends look-a-likes.

The mural was sandblasted off during repairs to the building it was painted on. The historical society plans to have the mural repainted exactly as was as soon as the building repairs are complete.
