We visited the house and we were able to go inside. Looks like at night some squatters come there. So sad to see people trash this. There is a sign that says you use to be able to visit until someone stole the cash box and damaged the home. Lots of really neat pictures inside the home.
[Erica, 10/20/2022]While the house is still there, visitors are no longer allowed inside. The owners have put a sign on the door saying visits have ended because someone stole the pay box and trashed the place. A sad ending to Rock in the House tours. However you are still able to view the rock from the backyard.

Rock in the House is still going strong. On a recent weekend trip I pulled into the small lot as the rest of the family rolled their collective eyes. As it turned out, the kids all thought it was pretty cool, and a highlight of the trip.
They have a locked box as you go in, and request a $2/person admission fee.
[Lenny J., 09/12/2011]Rock in the House is a small house under a hill where a giant rock smashed in the house. No one was hurt, but the lady who owned the house sold it to some entrepeneurs who now have made it a semi-major tourist attraction. For dollar you can get a personal tour of the house. There are also such oddities as a squished chainsaw and cans solidly stuck to a squished lawn chair. The place is right on the main street and close to the Mississippi River. A MUST SEE!!!

The Rock in the House has been on the attraction map since April 1995, when a 55-ton boulder broke loose and rolled into the Anderson family's master bedroom at 40 North Shore Drive. The name of the place is a friendly nod to Wisconsin neighbor House on the Rock.
