Frostop Root Beer Mug

Great root beer, and the fries are amazing. We were there at 10am, so not in the mood for a burger. Decided on a root beer and light snack. Root beer was creamy and the fries had an extra crunch that made them phenomenal.

The Idaho Historical Preservation office has slammed the brakes on a Dept. of Transportation plan to put a stoplight on the street corner next to Ashton's giant Frostop Root Beer Mug. According to a news story in the Rexburg Standard-Journal, state historians protested that the adjacent stoplight would detract from the "historic feel" of the big mug, which can be seen for long distances up and down US Highway 20.

The Standard-Journal story adds that designing a mug-friendly stoplight may take until 2023.

The large frosty mug is still in operation, although the actual drive-in is a bit worn. Well worth the view, and can't be missed if you are coming from or going to Yellowstone via Idaho Hwy 20.
