I can confirm that the shoe fence is still there, on both sides of the road.

Contrary to a previous tip, this stretch of County Road 10 has plenty of shoes, boots, flip flops, and skates decorating its fence posts. I just put my hockey skates on a post as their final resting place.
[Steve Spaudie, 09/12/2017]The shoe fence has been taken down. All that's left are a couple rocks balanced on some remaining fence posts.

The Downer Shoe Fence is quite a bit east of Downer. Keep going until you are on the east side of MN Hwy 32. The shoe fence was about a mile long counting both sides of the hwy when I saw it.
[goodnightgram, 08/14/2010]Lining both sides of the highway are fences with shoes on top of all the fence posts. As the fence posts filled, people next started to nail shoes up the telephone poles along the fence line. This has been growing for over 10 years.
