Woodland, California: Reiff's Gas Station House (Gone)

Mark Reiff worked at a gas station in the 1950s, liked it, and converted his home -- inside and out -- to house his collection of petroliana. A 1950s malt shop was visible through the front windows; an airplane tail stuck out of the roof.

Reiff's Front Lawn Gas Station

Super cute and interesting! We didn't do a tour, but it looks like he has some cool stuff in the back yard, too.

Gas station.

Reiff's Front Lawn Gas Station

This is a "must do" stop, with the station, diner, theater, and a building featuring both a car crash and a plane crash - no doubt from a shift in the magnetic poles. Private tours, including the back yard area, can be arranged. Woodland's greatest tourist attraction!

Reiff's Front Lawn Gas Station

Reiff has great stories and lots of great things to see. He has a wonderful, varied collection! Went with our Corvette club and had a picnic lunch there. Fun trip!

Vintage pumps at Reiff's gas station.

Reiff's Front Lawn Gas Station

Meet Mark Reiff, a Woodland man whose love affair extends from the car to the gas pump. Mark's garage is lined with antique pumps in a variety of shapes and sizes. His collection even includes a gasoline pump from 1914! He remodeled his front lawn to look like a real gas station, complete with a 1950s diner, created a general store in the foyer, and added a fake car crashing through the front fence. The house is open to tours by appointment only [mreiff@sbcglobal.net], and he loves showing it off!
