Grand Canyon Caverns.

Grand Canyon Caverns

Outdoor dinosaurs lure travelers to a cave along an otherwise empty stretch of Route 66. Elevator drops 200+ feet into the cave, which features Civil Defense leftovers, and the leftovers of those unlucky enough to have fallen into the cave.

Working on permit to sleep overnight in the caverns: one room, private cave dining available.

Dinosaur at the Caverns.

Grand Canyon Caverns

We decided to take the old Route 66 out of Seligman and stopped at Grand Canyon Caverns. We had a great time and our guide was funny. We wore flip flops and did okay, and we're in our 50s, but tennis shoes would have been better.

Grand Canyon Caverns

This is fun but not for folks with limited mobility. I have severe arthritis and it was quite difficult, the tour is only an hour and cost 20 bucks/17 for seniors. The guides are great but go fast so if you are slow it can be frustrating. Also has a large dinosaur outside and other neat things on the property.

Mummified Bob Cat.

Grand Canyon Caverns

Down in the caverns, see Bob the Mummified Bob Cat, a giant prehistoric sloth, fallout shelter supplies (the cave is still a fallout shelter), and "The Cavern Suite." Sleep 220 feet underground in the Caverns.
