Mounted on a set of stilts, this Lunar Lander trainer was the only one that the crew of Apollo 13 ever used as a Lander, since they never made it onto the moon.

Apparently this mock-up of the Lunar Module has been moved about 1,800 feet west, from in front of the Mississippi Welcome Center, and now sits in front of the Infinity Science Center.

The Lunar Lander looks great and has spotlights for nighttime viewing. It's worth noting that it can be visited by both east- and west-bound travelers. Unlike most state Welcome Centers, the one with the Lunar Lander is at an actual exit. So no matter which direction you are traveling on the interstate, you can stop and gaze at the Lander.

Easy to get to off the interstate. Nice rest stop! Try to make time to go to the museum [in the Mississippi Welcome Center].
